Software for the phone people already own.

We build products for the people most software skips: workers on feature phones, small businesses without IT teams.

Job matching over USSD, on any phone.

KaziConnect: dial a short code, build a profile in about two minutes, and apply for jobs. Free for workers, always.

Built with partners, for everyone else.

We take on a few builds each year with organisations working on access, work and livelihoods.

What we do

Our own products, and builds with partners.

Our own products

We find a problem we can see from the street, build the product, and run it. KaziConnect is the first.

  • Found on the street
  • Built and run by us
  • Free for workers

Partner builds

We take on a few builds each year with organisations working on access, work and livelihoods.

  • Access
  • Work
  • Livelihoods

USSD and SMS

Flows in English and Swahili that work on a basic handset with no data, five options per screen at most.

  • Any phone, no data
  • Short menus, plain words
  • Confirmation by SMS

Low-bandwidth web

Portals and the systems behind them: post, shortlist, invite and track from one screen.

  • Employer portal
  • Matching engine
  • SMS notifications
Our work

What we're building, and who with.

How we work

How we decide what to build, and how we build it.

Six habits, written down so we can be held to them. These are the first three.

  1. Start with the cheapest phone

If it doesn't work on a basic handset with no data, it isn't done. Smartphone features come after.

  2. Two people on every decision

Every engineering call, deal and contract has a second person on it. Nothing gets built or signed solo.

  3. Earn trust before we charge

Our products prove their value first, and the people we serve pay nothing where we can manage it.
